Co2 Tank Usage
HOW LONG WILL Co2 LAST?

I use
20lb tanks which are a bit over 3 ft tall. They last approx. 30 - 35 hours of spraying tats. If you are looking into them, I would most definitely advise you to
purchase an aluminum tank as opposed to the steel ones...big difference in weight!! Also since Co2 is measured by weight and not pressure as most other gases, the
regulator only needs to have one gauge for the psi...(Make sure however that it is for Co2 and not for Nitrogen or Oxygen) Most tanks have the empty weight stamped on
the tank so you can weigh it and see how much you have left. Each pound you have gives you a little under two hours of spray time until you get down to the last 3-4
pounds of the 20lb tanks then the pressure drops. For the smaller tanks like the
10lb. or 5lb.,  you only get the use of about 2/3 of the Co2 before the pressure drops. So
for
2-3 hour gigs, the 5 pound works great and is much easier to carry. We have an 80 lb that we refill the smaller 5 pounders for the smaller gigs.... For any larger
companies that have several groups going out for gigs, get yourself a smaller refrigerator that the 5 pounders will fit in and once they are cold, they fill faster and you can
put more Co2 in them. This will save you lots of money since it's only a few dollars more to fill the 80 lb tank than the 5 lb tanks...
Here is the gauge I use with my 20 & 5 lb Co2 tanks. (2 views)
One gauge maintains the air pressure going out while the other measures the pressure
in the tank.
I like to have a second gauge as it gives me a 30-60 minute heads-up that my 20 lb.
tank is about to go "dry".
